Our Big Bear Woods and Bear Woods

We are delighted to share that Windmill Integrated Primary School  and Nursery Unit has been successful in securing a significant grant from the Department for Communities, enabling the exciting development of our outdoor learning spaces. Big Bear Woods and Bear Woods have been transformed to enhance outdoor education and play, with a new path network weaving through the woods, waterproof roofing added to the wooden hideout and the former shed fully clad, insulated and upgraded with electricity and heating to support year‑round learning. A new greenhouse has been installed, along with amphitheatres in both woodland areas to support outdoor teaching, performances and group activities. The project also includes a cycling path and numeracy markings across the playground, further supporting active, engaging learning. We extend our sincere thanks to Mr Sean Campbell (contractor), Sperrin Paints Ltd, Armagh Sheds, Mr Kevin Hamill( Electrician), and Mr Cahal Campbell ( Building Supervisor) for their generosity, expertise and hard work in helping make this fantastic development possible for our children.
